Surfing

TOPWATER

Where are we ?

This isolated island of the Lau Group is still very traditional when it comes to western influence.

Fishing will commence after a hearty breakfast every morning, lunch will be out on the water and we will return after a hard days fishing for ice cold beers and an authentic braai under the stars.During our reconnaissance spent fishing the area was nothing short of mind blowing.

"This being said you will be surfing these waves alone, literally only our crew. Uncrowded. Remote. Its like Rip Curls:The Search reincarnated."

Fully remote surf spots

It goes to say that the waters we will be surfing and have access to are some of the most pristine uncharted waves in the world.

The Fijian waves have a power in them that is second to none. They dont need alot of swell and during the Hawaiian swell season we get waves that absoluely pump. The waves vary to season and location. We have waves that are close to us on a neighbouring atoll we called Nukutolo.

These waves are fast and break hard on a sharp coral reef and are for immediate to advanced surfers only who know reefs well and have the paddle power and reef knowledge to surf such powerful breaks.

Our local
surf spots...

They come in strong from deep ocean and break below sea level on a low tide. Among are favourites are Mako's, and Nuko's.

Mako's: An A-Frame bombie that breaks further out on a bigger swell and breaks left and right like Pipeline and as hard and fast as pipeline. Beast of a wave that remians largely unsurfed. We cant wait to see a pro hit this peak. The will get the barrel of their lives here on the right conditions.

Nuko's: A left that is friendlier than Makos but still takes some control and skill to master. Quite fickle but if the swell direction is right and the wind is offshore is an lovely left-hander that can cook.

Waterfalls: A longboarding wave based close to camp that rolls in over the long reef on a very large swell. Really fun wave for a larger board for immediate surfers. Even beginners but not total beginners.

Our other
surf spots...

When you land you arrive in Taveuni and we have our best waves in this region. These waves are absolutely world class. Maqai, Kava's, Lovena and more.

These waves work mainly on the Hawaiian swell season  Insane, wave after wave, for hours on end with only you and you mates out...

MAQAI // RIGHT HANDER //  Intermediate to advanced surfers
A right handed that works from 2ft to 6-8ft solid. It can get perfect and runs for a hundred meters wrapping around the reef. Its mindblowing and cooks on a good swell and a SE offshore wind. You will have your best sessions here...no doubt.

KAVAS // LEFT HANDER //  Intermediate to advanced surfers
A left handed that works when Maqai is onshore or crossshore. Works like Maqwai but is a left and a little faster. Works from 2ft to 6-8ft solid. On the right direction, it breaks perfectly and runs for a hundred meters wrapping around the reef with barrel sections, race sections and cutback sections alike. Its mindblowing and cooks

There are many other spots we still exploring and some ones we wont mention here... ;)
