INTRODUCTION
This isolated island of the Lau Group is still very traditional when it comes to western influence. Fishing will commence after a hearty breakfast every morning, lunch will be out on the water and we will return after a hard days fishing for ice cold beers and an authentic braai under the stars, where the anglers will no doubt banter about the days action. During our reconnaissance spent fishing the area was nothing short of mind blowing.
Our Eco Camp is a completely sustainable offering. Due to its completely remote nature we had to build cleverly with an off-the-grid mindset.
It goes to say that the waters we will be fishing and have exclusive access to are some of the most pristine uncharted waters in the world. The species that can be found literally in front of our lodge on a pushing or dropping tide are something to keep our guests with sleepless nights being bust off by large permit, Triggerfish or on a massive Giant Trevally feeding ravenously at sunset. This place is like no other on earth.
Our two specifically customised 23ft Skiffs designed to cater for the worlds most avid Salt-water Flyfisherman and Topwater anglers will go out daily and recce our surrounding islands and their respective flats, which make up our waters, in search of uncharted fishing locations. The flats fishing is a fly-fisherman’s skinny-water dream, boasting Triggerfish, GT’s, Blue-spot Kingfish, Indo-Pacific Permit, Wrasse, Coral Trout, Spangled Emperor and more. Our local Intel have also reported bonefish to be in the region and intend to find them in the coming months...
Drifting along the shallow reefs or working the edges can also produce large Giant Trevally, Dogtooth Tuna, Yellowfin Tuna, Wahoo, Sailfish, Amberjack and more. All the main locations lie within 5 - 20 Nm. range.
The camp concept a mix between Fijian Traditional Bure building techniques combined with African Tented Solutions giving the camp an one-of-a-kind appeal in an stylish yet practical, comfortable yet relaxed atmosphere.
Solid foundations with beautiful, salt-water treated local hardwood make up the decking and core structure of the complete camp. Roofed with the world class solutions of African inspired high end Safari Tents the collaboration between the Fijian Bure concept with African Style Tented Safari solution maximises temperature control and space, giving you the solid feeling like you in living on an enchanted island in the world of exploration.
At its hub is a main Bure, a massive structure elevated up above the shoreline and set back in the natural forest. This place is mystifying and a location where our guests can simply relax and soak in 'Fiji time'. Enjoy an ice cold local beer from the equipped bar while watching the unspoilt sunset reminiscing about the days events.
